How does Moling Work?

Rather than having to dig a huge trench outside your property to install pipes, moling opts for a trenchless installation. Not only does this reduce the time needed to carry out the work, it also reduces your impact on the environment, and the actual cost of the job!

Moling works by digging pits at the property and then placing a special pneumatic drill at the bottom of one pit and turning the drill on. This cylindrical drill repeatedly hammers and displaces all of the soil ahead of the mole, eventually emerging from the next pit. The pipe is then able to go between both of these pits, without the need to dig one continuous trench, saving a lot of time and energy. (Depending on ground conditions).

Is Moling an Effective Solution?


Although moling may not be effective in a variety of different ground types, it is worth noting that moling is an incredibly effective solution for the installation of shorter cables, sewer pipes, water mains etc. The great thing is that this can all be done in very busy areas as well as in environmentally sensitive areas.
